We do not build an elk setup around having the most gear. We build it around having the right gear, testing it beforehand and knowing how each piece fits into the hunt.

Boots

Footwear is foundational. Comfort, traction, durability and fit matter because every other part of the hunt depends on being able to move through the country. We use and recommend gear we can actually stand behind, not just products that look good in a catalog.

Good optics help you spend more time finding elk and less time moving blindly through country. Choose a setup that gives you the magnification and clarity you need without creating unnecessary weight.

Pack and Load Carry

A pack should carry comfortably, organize the essentials and stay manageable when the terrain gets steep. We prefer systems that are simple enough to use without fighting the pack every time something is needed.

Clothing and Layers

Weather can change quickly in the mountains. Build a system around layering so you can manage heat while moving and stay protected when you stop.

Navigation and Safety

Navigation and emergency essentials are not optional. Carry the tools you need to understand where you are, communicate when possible and make good decisions when conditions change.

If a piece of gear does not improve comfort, safety, efficiency or the ability to hunt, it deserves a hard look before it goes into the pack.
